Metal springs are easy to bend in only one direction, the smallest stiffness plane, and have large tensile and bending stiffness in the other direction. Therefore, the leaf spring is very suitable for use as a sensing device or a sensor in an automatic device, an elastic support, a positioning device, a flexible connection, and the like.
Spring sheet production technical requirements
1. The radius of the bending section. Most springs are bent when they are formed. If the radius of curvature of the curved portion is relatively small, these portions are subject to great stress. Therefore, if you want to avoid bending part of the greater stress, the design should be bent at least five times the thickness of the plate.
2. Stress concentration at the notch or hole. The spring sheet often has stepped portions and openings, and stress concentration occurs at the step where the dimensions change drastically. The smaller the hole diameter is, the larger the board width is, and the larger this stress concentration factor is.
3. Spring shape and dimensional tolerances. The sheet springs are often stamped and processed, and the shape and size suitable for stamping are selected in the design. At the same time, the dimensional tolerances such as springback during bending and deformation during heat treatment must be fully taken into account.
The requirements for the heat treatment of the spring sheet should be put forward according to the performance requirements. The hardness after heat treatment can generally be determined between 36 and 52 HRC.
